Starting off in the summer of 1986 a man by the name of Bart Koene started selling hand sewn shorts on the beach in the Netherlands, A young girl he had working for him wrapped a piece of cloth around her head to protect her from the sun, and had lot of interest from people wanting to buy this fancy bandana... they focused on headwear and here Barts was born.
